Enter now for Babcock 10K Series

More than 1200 runners have now entered the Babcock 10K Series – which includes our Scottish 10K Champs in Glasgow Green.

Runners from as far afield as Germany, Orkney, Gateshead and Aberdeen are set to line up for the three-race series, which features races in Helensburgh and Dumbarton as well as the Shettleston race on Sunday 14 May as the centrepiece.

Elite athletes are being attracted by the Scottish 10K Champs on May 14 and the prospect of picking up a £200 cash prize for winning and a further £200 bonus for a course record (or Weynay Ghebresilasie’s Series Record of 29:32).

Hamish Hickey is leading a strong Central team after his impressive third place in the Lindsays National XC. Central AC will also be represented by Calum Phillips, while Cambuslang’s Ryan Thompson will look to improve his 10K best of 29:45.

They will be up against a strong Shettleston entry, which includes Weynay Ghebresilasie – fresh from his 64:30 in the Lisbon Half Marathon – and Jamie Burns. Scott Stirling of Falkirk Victoria is fresh from his 5K course record of 14:11 in the Allan Scally Relays.

The women’s race has a wealth of emerging talent. Kirsty Walker, who represents Edinburgh A.C and Reading A.C, was sixth in last year’s English National Cross-Country Championships and ninth in the World Student Games Cross-Country.

She is joined by 18-year-old Natasha Phillips from Dundee Hawkhill Harriers, who won the Scottish Half Champs in Inverness.

Emily Carroll is making the long journey from Thames Valley Harriers in London, and Natalie Wangler and Johannes Muller are travelling from Germany to represent their club, Sudbaden.

Fionnuala Ross from Shettleston is expected to defend her Series Record of 34:00, set in 2019.

Entries remain open for each race until a week before the event and every finisher will receive a unique commemorative medal and an item of Start Fitness running merchandise at each race.
