Club Leaders Academy returns with new cohort

The scottishathletics Leaders Academy gathered for their latest session last weekend – as we seek to help grow knowledge and skills within our clubs.

Cohort Four features 10 individuals who represent 11 clubs with a combined membership of over 2000 (11 percent of our current overall membership).

The weekend session at the Emirates was the latest in the journey for these dedicated volunteers.

Steven Beattie kicked off the session as he led a powerful discussion on engaging people from deprived areas in sport and physical activity.

It was then over to Guy Richardson of Eiger Performance with a session on how to lead with impact.

Dr. Andrew Jenkin of Club Development Consultancy rounded the day off with a session on legal structures, charitable status, and gift aid.

‘I’m so impressed by Cohort Four of the Club Leaders Academy,’ said David Fallon, our Head of Development.

‘The motivation and enthusiasm for learning and healthy, challenging discussion is unbelievably inspiring. Having a gender balance, and a rich variety of experiences, ages, and current club roles amongst the cohort is leading to some really interesting and unexpected discussion points for the future of club development in our sport.

‘Programmes like the Club Leaders Academy are extremely important in making sure that our current and future leaders have the education, experience and resources needed to keep our clubs at the forefront of Scottish sport.

‘We’re extremely grateful to Club Development Consultancy and Eiger Performance for their ongoing support and dedication into developing this programme and our leaders.’

SAVE THE DATE – NATIONAL CLUB CONFERENCE

We are pleased to confirm at this early stage that our 2024 National Club Conference will be held on Saturday 26 October this year.

The venue is once again the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. We ask clubs to note the date and think about being represented at the National Club Conference that weekend (with the 4J Awards in the evening at the same venue).
