Tom Scott Interim Results

Road Race Grand Prix for 2022

The Tru Wealth Scottish 10-Mile Champs are taking place at Strathclyde Park on Sunday.

National Championship medals will be on offer as part of the 58th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races.

It’s great to see this event back on the schedule after the 2020 races were hastily cancelled when Covid-19 broke out in the spring of that year. There was no opportunity last year, either, for it to take place.

The flat race route often lends itself to fast times and personal bests, as evidenced by the two course records set in 2018 by Luke Traynor (47:59 mins) and Sarah Inglis (55:34 mins).

Strong entries have been recorded once again this year, with 447 registered for the 10-Mile, with several expected to contend for the main prizes, including the Tom Scott trophy for first place.

In the women’s field, the leading pack is expected to contain the 2015 champion Fionnuala Ross (Shettleston), Annabel Simpson (University of the West of Scotland), Camila McKnespiey (Border Harriers), Lauren Wilson (Edinburgh AC) and Virginie Barrand (Metro Aberdeen).

In the men’s field, some of those with potential to contend include the defending champion Lachlan Oates (Shettleston), Ryan Thomson and Michael Christoforou (Cambuslang Harriers), Lewis Rodgers (Fife AC), John Bell, Jonathan Glen and Sean Fontana (Inverclyde), Daryl Reid (East Kilbride) and Dougie Selman (Corstorphine).

The event also hosts a Round the Loch race, which often attracts some of the country’s best runners over shorter distances.

We send our thanks in advance to race organiser Bobby Hill and all the team from host club Law and District AAC as well as our scottishathletics Endurance Officials, all of whom will work together to deliver the Tom Scott Road Races.

Thanks, also, to sponsors Tru Wealth and the Road Running and Cross Country Commission for helping set up the 2022 Championship Series.

The event organisers are also grateful for support from Hydracrat, Tunnocks and Co-Op Funeralcare Airdrie.
