The final international mountain event is this Sunday in Italy at Trofeo Vanoni where five Scots will be racing over this classic relay course in Morbegno.
The women’s event consists of two laps and the team is Alice Goodall (Edinburgh AC/Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds) and Catriona MacDonald (Bellahouston Road Runners).
In the men’s event there are three legs. The team is Kieran Cooper (Carnethy), Joseph Wright (Deeside) and Jonathan Downey (Kilmarnock).
This will be the first time the Scots have raced here and they will gain invaluable experience.
As well as those representing Scotland, we are expecting to see Andy Douglas, Ross Gollan and Matt Knowles compete, too.
Nearer to home several Scottish teams are travelling down to Braithwaite, Cumbria for the British Hill and Fell Relays.
Teams of six race over four legs. There are teams entered in both men’s and women’s events from Carnethy, Shettleston, Westerlands and Ochils. Last year a few teams reached the podium and are hoping to repeat this.
Good luck to everyone racing in the mountains of Italy and fells in the Lakes this weekend.
With thanks to Angela Mudge
