Five picked for Team Scotland for Para events at Birmingham 2022

Wheelchair race Sean Frame is relishing the prospect of a first appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

The Lockerbie athlete, 25, won the Scottish 10k Champs at Roon the Toon on Sunday with a powerful push to finish ahead of Luke Deighan.

Now Sean will work on his final preparations for the Men’s T54 marathon in Birmingham.

‘It’s been a great week with the confirmation of the Team Scotland selection and the announcement last Friday,’ he said.

‘How do I feel about it? It’s brilliant for me to have made that team.

‘I’m in the marathon and that is my favoured event so I am really looking forward now to the final few weeks of training and then competing in Birmingham.’

Sean clocked 25:22 on Sunday – a strong push in the windy conditions in Ayrshire.

‘I was happy enough with the performance. The conditions were not great on the day for wheelchair racing – a bit windy and a wee bit wet, as well.

‘As it turned out I was only about 30 seconds or so away from the Course Record I set here for Roon the Toon last year.

‘I think given those conditions that’s a pretty good effort because it was a lot windier than other years.’
