Selection policy for Loughborough International

scottishathletics are creating a competition opportunity for invited athletes at Kilmarnock on Saturday 8 May.

And athletes will represent Scotland two weeks later on Sunday 23 May at the Loughborough International.

We are still working on much of the detail around the Loughborough International with, clearly, a number of Covid-19 protocols in place and issues like pre-event testing, travel and accommodation under discussion (internally at scottishathletics).

However, the traditional annual team event is set to take place and Scotland will be represented.

Prior to that and ahead of selection for Loughborough, our 4J Studios May Invitational at Kilmarnock’s Ayrshire Athletics Arena will cover a number of track and field events and is intended to help the Senior and U20 athletes involved open their season or chase qualifying performances for various events.

Highly ranked Scots have received invitations via our Performance team for this event and results will be considered as part of the selection process for the Loughborough International.

British champions Kirsty Law and Nick Percy could compete in the discus at Kilmarnock and at this stage we would like to thank our hosts at East Ayrshire Council and Kilmarnock Harriers as well as, of course, our scottishathletics Officials.

There is a draft timetable for May 8 available on the Event section page.

*Invited athletes for Kilmarnock should note that online entry closes on May 2.
