Child protection and wellbeing is an important issue for scottishathletics as a governing body – and for our sport in the wider context.
We continue to work assiduously with our clubs in order to seek to ensure the right procedures are in place and that those working with children – in a coaching or volunteering context – fulfil the requisite criteria.
In addition, sportscotland has published details of training courses in 2018 which we would encourage club folk to strongly consider attending.
These course include the ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ courses that everyone in a regulated role should attend every three years and the ‘In Safe Hands’ course, which all Club Welfare Officers at scottishathletics affiliated clubs should attend.
Check out the courses on the sportscotland website
In addition, RespectMe, Scotland’s anti-bullying service, offer advice and guidance on bullying and training courses on responding to bullying and online safety.
Details are available on the the RespectMe website
