The 2026 Regional SUPERteams Heats delivered fantastic energy, team spirit and enthusiasm as young athletes from across Scotland came together to compete, support team-mates and enjoy the sport in a fun atmosphere.

Regional heats in Aberdeen and Kilmarnock saw brilliant participation levels, exciting relay action and plenty of standout performances across the track and field events.

Clubs embraced the team-based format, with athletes cheering each other on throughout the day and battling hard to secure places at the National Final next month.

The continued growth of SUPERteams highlights the success of the format in helping young athletes build confidence, friendships and a lifelong enjoyment of athletics.

Teams on the podium at each venue were:

Kilmarnock

  • Giffnock North AC A; Giffnock North AC B; Kilmarnock Harriers

Aberdeen

  • Inverness Harriers; Shetland AAC; Ross County AC

If your club would still like to take part in SUPERteams, there is one Regional Heat still to take place: Heat 4 at Greenfaulds High School on Saturday 30 May, hosted by Cumbernauld AAC.

Online entries close this Thursday, 21 May, at 5pm

The new-format U14 District Championships delivered an exciting weekend of competition, energy and achievement.

For the first time, athletes competed across three events of their choice, earning points towards bronze, silver and gold performance pin badges. The new format encouraged young athletes to try different disciplines, compete throughout the day and celebrate all-round performances.

The new badge system proved popular, with more athletes recognised for their achievements than ever before. Last year, 35% of athletes won a medal. This year, 45% achieved a badge award.

The badges are designed to be worn proudly on club kit and backpacks throughout the season, giving athletes something lasting to show for their hard work and performances.

A summary of badge winners can be found online

We now want to hear from the athletes themselves.

Whether you loved the new format, have ideas to improve it, or want to see more team-based competition in future, your feedback will help to shape the next generation of U14 events. The survey takes just two minutes to complete.
