
Young Scottish athletes were in action at the weekend in Glasgow – with a couple of superb individual performances.
The Emirates Arena played host to the Schools Combined Events International with teams representing Scottish Schools.
There were gold medals and Performance of the Day awards in two of the four age categories for Scots.
Holly Whittaker tallied 3836 to win the O16 Girls and the top performer accolade. Dionne Maguinness did likewise in the U16 Girls age group with 3728 and the top performer accolade.
Long jump performances were particularly impressive with Holly at 6:12m and Dionne at 5:43m. Holly’s leap is second best all-time at U20 and Dionne cleared 1.72m in the high jump for third all-time U17,
Team outcomes were as follows:
O16 Boys – Scotland third; U16 Boys – Scotland second; O16 Girls – Scotland second; U16 Girls – Scotland second.

There were strong runs at the Valencia Marathon in Spain as Max Milarvie and Andrew Fyfe moved to the top 12 all-time and Sarah Potter to top 15 on the women’s list.
