Scottish Combined Events athletes were in superb form in Belfast over the weekend at an International match opportunity.
All five Scots claimed podium places and four of those were via overall points PB performances.
Young duo Douglas Knox of Springburn Harriers and Leanna Elliot of Cumbernauld AAC each took victory in their events as they competed at U18 level.
Douglas tallied 6744 points (improving by around 200 points) and that takes him second in the all-time U17 list (and competing at U18 levels). Similarly in the U18 Heptathlon, Leanna improved by a couple of hundred points to win with 4869 points – and move third on the Scottish all-time list at U17.
Alister Mackay was second in the Senior event with 7041 points. That was a PB by around 400 points for the Team East Lothian athlete. Cal McLennan was third in the Senior decathlon with 6483.
In the U20 Men’s decathlon, Zak Fearn of Team East Lothian took third place with 6553 points. Zak moves to eighth on the Scottish all-time list for U20. It was a PB by 100 points for Zak including a 61m javelin throw.
Many congratulations to all five athletes on representing Scotland so well in Combined Events and to their coaches.
With thanks to Sam O’Kane, National Field Manager
