It’s been a hectic week across our channels with membership system switch and Scottish Running Week.
But we have also managed on our social platforms to share content featuring UK Coaching Week and Volunteers Week.
We want to highlight these because we never tire of saying it is volunteers who really drive athletics in Scotland and make it happen. This week and every week.
That applies to our coaches, our qualified scottishathletics Officials, those in club roles, Welfare Officers, parent helpers . . . and everyone else who contributes in whatever way.
Thank You. We do firmly believe ‘Everyone Has a Role to Play’ and often promote what we call our #SALtogether ethos.
‘It is absolutely spot-on to say people make our sport happen,’ said Colin Hutchison, chief executive of scottishathletics.
‘Volunteers are the lifeblood of athletics in Scotland. Volunteers Week is a great opportunity to celebrate that but we should not be doing that just this week.
‘I would like to think that we do recognise, aclnowledge and celebrate our Officials and our Coaches regularlyly – we see them in action in the background at events.
‘But sometimes we don’t highlight enough people in all sorts of roles at clubs around Scotland who are doing key work day in, day out to drive the sport.
‘So we say a big Thank You to everyone involved in athletics in a voluntary capacity.’
See below Musselburgh and District AAC getting involved in Volunteers Week. Basically, if you want to help, get in touch with your club – so many ways to help!!
