John Bell will turn his attention to the Half Marathon after a first title win of his career at Glasgow Green.

The Inverclyde AC athlete took gold at the Scottish 10k Champs with a strong run behind race winner, English athlete Calum Johnson.

It’s the fourth time John has made the podium at National level – with three of those coming in a matter of weeks after bronze medals at the Scottish 10-Mile Champs at Strathclyde Park and the Scottish 10,000m Champs on the track at Crownpoint.

‘I’m looking to the Edinburgh Half Marathon now in a couple of weeks and to see if I can come up with a good performance,’ he said.

‘There’s a Scotland selection for the Antrim Half Marathon coming up and I’d love to be in the mix for that team if I can.’

Natasha Phillips has revealed sessions in the swimming pool are helping her on the road.

The Dundee Hawkhill Harriers athlete made it three Scottish Senior road titles from four races with victory in the 10K Champs at the Shettleston Babcock race in Glasgow.

It means Natasha has won over the half marathon, 10-mile and 10k distance while taking a silver and U20 gold at the Scottish 5K champs.

‘I do quite a lot of swimming as cross-training during a normal training week – as I used to be swimmer,’ she explained.

‘It’s useful to do that training with the impact of running on the roads. We think it is helping me, definitely. I do probably swim more than I run, to be fair, at the moment.
