Our Road Race Grand Prix began with the recent Scottish Half Marathon Champs at Inverness.

And no fewer than eight athletes are already ‘in the money’ after being allocated shares for the first event according to our time standards.

The top three in the Women’s division all landed A shares as we look to distribute £4000 in prize-money after the five-race series is concluded.

In the Men’s race, the top five athletes were all inside the time set to land B shares.

Natasha Phillips led the Women home with 71.53 (Inverness Half Marathon Course Record) and was followed by Fionnuala Ross at 72:16 and Ginie Barrand at 74:00.

Those athletes were all inside the sub 76:00 minutes asked for to land A shares in the Women’s division.

Fraser Stewart led the Men home in 65:24 and was followed by fellow medallists Lewis Rodgers at 65:37 and Hamish Hickey at 65:46.

Completing the top five were Luca Fanottoli at 55:17 and Michael Ferguson at 66:23 – with all of those athletes thus sub 67:00 to land B standards.

*Next event in the Road Race Grand Prix is the Scottish 10-Mile Champs coming up at the Tom Scott Road Races on Sunday 2 April at Strathclyde Park.
