SCRUTINISED RESULTS – NORTH DISTRICT XCR 2022

Moray Road Runners and eventual winners Inverness Harriers fought a tight two way battle for the men’s title at the Lindsays North District XC relay championships on Nairn Links.

Moray’s Kenny Wilson edged fellow Scotland internationalist Stephen Mackay (Inverness) by eight seconds in their first lap battle for the fastest overall time, but Angus Smith and Lucas Cairns gave Inverness a narrow lead which Luke Davidson extended to 17 seconds at the end.

Kayleigh Oates gave Moray’s women a lead of almost a minute over Katie Slimon of Highland Hill Runners.

But Erin McFadden, for HRR, exactly pulled it back on leg two before Kirstie Rogan contributed the fastest lap of the race to give the Hill Runners victory by 90 seconds.

HHR won the Masters men’s championship and Forres Harriers the Masters women’s.

Both the Young Male and Young Female winners led their races from start to finish.

Ross County defeated their own second team by 28 seconds in the male race and in the female contest Inverness were two minutes clear of a team from Stornoway who made yet another big effort to cross the Minch.

The fastest athletes in the junior age groups, Andrew Baird of Ross County and Lois MacRae of Inverness, both came from the under 15 age groups.
