We are profoundly sad and shocked to advise of the passing of Colin Sinclair.

It’s understood the well-known and highly respected coach had been in hospital for a short time and passed away on Saturday night.

Everyone at scottishathletics as a governing body and right across the whole sport sends our condolences to Colin’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Colin’s funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Friday 27 May, at Woodside Crematorium, 46 Broomlands St, Paisley PA1 2NP.

With experience and technical knowledge, Colin was a coach, mentor and friend to many athletes.

In recent years, he was associated with VP-Glasgow, but he worked with athletes from a number of clubs, and guided multi-eventer Andrew Murphy to GB international honours.

Colin also worked closely with emerging Scotland international Murray Fotheringham. Over the years many other athletes came through his charge such as John McCall, Jax Thoirs, Scott Connal, Mhairi Patience, Amy Kennedy, Howard Bell (and many more).

Colin was also assisting in the development of the Senior athletes of tomorrow working with our 4J National Athletics Academy and had been involved with Scotland teams at events like Loughborough and Manchester.

To every role, he brought a keen insight and huge passion for the sport.
