Scotland cross country vests up for grabs for Liverpool and Belfast

International Selection Policy – Road Running and Cross Country section

Scotland vests will be awarded for the British Cross Challenge races in Liverpool later this month – the GB Euro Cross trials.

scottishathletics plan to select up for four men and four women across the following age categories for the event on Merseyside on Saturday 27 November:

Seniors; U23s; U20s

These will be picked on current form (with the selection decision made during the week from Monday 8 November).

The Lindsays Short Course Champs at Lanark this weekend will thus be key in this process, with other recent form also taken into account.

Scotland will also field teams in Belfast at the British Cross Challenge event in Belfast on Saturday 22 January.

The action that day in Northern Ireland incorparates two international matches – the Celtic Nations XC and the Home Countries XC

For the Celtic Nations XC, scottishathletics will select:

Up to four athletes, Men and Women, for:

U23 Men (born 2000, 01, 02); U23 Women (born 2000, 01, 02)

U20 Men (born 2003, 04, 05); U20 Women (born 2003, 04, 05)

U17 Men (born 2006 and 2007); U17 Women (born 2006 and 2007)

Athletes will be selected on current form, particularly British Cross Challenge in Liverpool and the Lindsays District XC Champs at three venues on Saturday 4 December.

(Note age groups are under IAAF rules).

For the Home Countries XC, scottishathletics will select

Up to four athletes, Men and Women, for :

Senior Men and Senior Women

U20 races will be incorporated into Celtic Nations XC.

Selection will be based on current form, particularly performances at the British Cross Challenge in Liverpool and the Lindsays District XC at three venues on Saturday 4 December.
