David Ovens will address our National Club Conference in October

scottishathletics are pleased to confirm we are making plans for our 2021 National Club Conference.

This will be a physical event and will take place on Saturday 9 October at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

A series of external speakers will present as well as contributions and case studies from clubs themselves, with the event due to run from 9am to 4pm.

Chief executive Colin Hutchison and David Ovens, who takes over from Ian Beattie as our new Chair in September, will deliver on our ‘Building a Culture of Success’ national strategy.

The National Club Conference has been a big success in past years as a forum for sharing good practice and, again this year, is on the same day as the 4J Studios Annual Awards Dinner (at the same venue – more details in due course).

Bookings for the Conference will open at the start of August but, in the meantime, we are happy to try and answer any queries via email at development@scottishathletics.org.uk

*Numbers yet to be confirmed but the event will of course be Covid-19 compliant.

Honorary Life Membership – the full list

Each year scottishathletics considers the award of Honorary Life Membership to people who have made a significant contribution to the sport at National level over a number of years.

This is primarily a non-competitive award for example; coach, official, administrator but in special circumstances competition achievements may be a significant factor.

scottishathletics are now seeking nominations from our clubs and Commissions for 2021.

As a guide on the recipients over many years, please check the link above from the History section of this website.

These awards are rare and there is no requirement or expectation that awards will be made in each year.

So please consider carefully and only nominate candidates who have had a National presence over a long period of time, and whose work has greatly benefitted the sport.
