Spikes on track

Covid-19 section with further info

As our members will be aware, the First Minister has announced a new strategic approach to suppress the coronavirus.

This included the announcement of a 5-level system of ‘protections’ (restrictions) which can be applied locally or nationally, depending on the prevalence of the virus.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19): Scotland’s Strategic Framework was published by the Scottish Government late last week providing the detail to this announcement.

The Scottish Government are engaged with stakeholders to receive feedback, before this is debated and voted on by Parliament on Tuesday (27 October).

Once approved, it will then be introduced from Monday 2 November, with the starting level in each area to be announced in advance. The levels applying in each local authority area will then be reviewed on a weekly basis.

scottishathletics have been working with sportscotland and other governing bodies of sport to feed back on the information contained within the new framework and the potential interpretations for sport and physical activity and their impact.

sportscotland have been feeding back comments to Scottish Government on our behalf.

Once the latest framework has been approved at the Scottish Parliament, sportscotland will update and share all relevant sport and physical activity guidance as soon as possible.

scottishathletics will then provide our updated guidance that has been approved by sportscotland and the Scottish Government.

We anticipate that this will be completed over the next few days (hopefully by Friday).
