Record-breakers! Scottish athletes feature in 27 new marks approved

Wednesday 13th May 2020

Scotland Women set a new 4x100m Relay record in Belfast last summer thanks to the efforts of Chloe Lambert, Alisha Rees, Heather Paton and Katy Wyper – Rees and Paton went on to set National Records indoors in 2020

It was a quite remarkable indoor season for Scottish athletes – as a whole host of National and Native Records now prove emphatically.

From the Emirates Arena to the Czech Republic to New York, Senior Scottish Records fell to female athletes.

And our younger athletes were in on the act, too, with a series of fine performances at indoor age group events both north and south of the border.

The scottishathletics Records Committee has met and recommended the validation of no fewer than 27 Records featuring Scottish athletes (including one outdoor Record from last season, with paperwork now received).

Our Board met in late March and these Records have now been approved.

Many congratulations to all the athletes involved and their families and coaches. Well done, too, to the clubs who deliver such key development work over many years for these athletes.

We send a big thank you to Arnold Black, who leads the Records Committee, and all those volunteers who sit on that body for their assistance on thus as well as the scottishathletics Board for approval.
