scottishathletics places a big emphasis on coach education as a key strand in our strategy to grow the sport in Scotland and raise standards.

That goal has been highlighted in recent weeks in a couple of videos from Stephen Maguire, our Director of Performance and Coaching, and a blog post from chief executive, Mark Munro.

In PB magazine, too, we looked a little more into coaching with Stephen keen to stress that these volunteers are vital to the health of athletics.

So now we’re delighted to confirm we’ve added Coach Education Course dates in venues throughout the country for everyone looking to attend a course this Autumn.

‘Coaches are so important to what we’re trying to do’ – Munro

From entry level qualifications on track with the Coaching Assistant course and off track with our Jog Leader course to the Event Group Coach qualification, we feel we have course opportunities for volunteers and coaches to develop their coaching skills and knowledge.

Just looking through the schedule and in the opening weeks there are courses coming up at Motherwell, Tranent, Grangemouth, Inverness, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Dundee and East Kilbride.

Thus the scottishathletics Coach Education programme is essential to support the development of athletes of all ages and abilities in our clubs and communities.
