Reuben U17 Record and Jumps, Throws Results

Monday 29th July 2019

scottishathletics were pleased to stage two more event specific meetings over the weekend at Livingston and Pitreavie.

Results for both of these are now online on our Event page section and we want to thanks all those athletes, coaches and clubs who supported these events.

In due course, the performances at Livingston on Saturday and Pitreavie on Sunday will be added to the overall tallies within our Event Specific Series for 2019.

Records have been falling in various age groups throughout 2019 and it was great to see another one broken at the Jumps Series 2 event on Sunday, within the Sky High pole vault competition.

Giffnock North AC athlete, Reuben Nairne, cleared 4.61m in the pole vault and that will be a new Scottish U17 Record, subject to ratification. The previous record was 4.60m, shared by Reuben and Jax Thoirs.

Reuben is a year one athlete with our 4J Studios National Athletics Academy. He was second on the day with the event won by Irish visitor Yuri Kanash, who cleared 4.71m.

In the long jump, Calum Henderson came up with a fine PB of 7.41m.

Conditions were pretty difficult at Livingston for the third our Throws GP events on Saturday.

So a good time to say a huge thank-you to all our scottishathletics Officials involved in delivering these events and indeed to the athletes and coaches who were there.

Jo Butterfield had a solid throw of 20.47m in Seated Club. New British U17 Hammer (4Kg) Record holder Kirsty Costello contested the Javelin but the wet conditions prevented a big throw and she ended up with a (modest for her) 42.30m.

In addition, SIAB representatives Danny Gracie (DT/HT), Hannah Garrett (HT) and Segae Ugbe (SP) competed on Saturday.

Danny threw well with 42.95m (DT) & 55.75m (HT) to be close to his PBs in both events. Hannah too was close to her PB with 44.98m (PB 46.64m) and Segae threw 12.88m so a little off his best this year of 14.86m.

Other notable athlete competing was Mhairi Porterfield in SP and hammer.
