The Glasgow Athletics Association host the first Scottish championships of the 2019 outdoor season on Friday night.

Crownpoint in Glasgow is the venue for the 10,000m track champs with four races at Senior level planned over the course of the evening.

Eight pace-makers will be involved with the clear goal of the GAA being to try and improve standards in this event and make impressions on the Scottish and British rankings for 2019 for 10,000m.

Both the GAA and ourselves would like to thank the Scottish endurance community in reaching more than 80 entries for the Night of 10ks.  Once again it is a really positive response and the clubs, coaches and athletes who are have taken up this opportunity should be congratulated for their support.

The first race is at 6.15pm with the main men’s race coming up at 8.20pm. In the hunt for the medals could be contenders such as Mark Pearce (Shaftesbury Barnet); Lachlan Oates (Shettleston); Mike Crawley (Corstorphine AAC); Michael Christoforou (Edinburgh AC); Ben Shaw (Giffnock North AC).

The top women are spread across a couple of races and in the hunt for medals could be contenders such as Fionnuala Ross (Shettleston); Elspeth Curran (Kilbarchan AAC); Avril Mason (Shettleston); Fanni Gyurko (Central AC); Sarah Potter (VP-Glasgow).

Here’s more key information for those coming along on Friday:
