WATCH: Interviews with Laura Muir, Andy Young, Eilish McColgan

Saturday 2nd March 2019

Laura Muir has revealed how she embraced the pressure of being Glasgow 2019 Ambassador, defending champion and home crowd favourite to retain her 3000m crown at the European Indoors.

Muir set a new Championship Best for the event with a  run of 8.30.61 which eclipsed by five seconds the previous mark she set herself winning gold in Belgrade in 2017.

German challenger Konstanze Klosterhalfen was seen off when Laura took the lead at the bell and closed out with a stunning last lap in 28 seconds.

Just over 12 hours later and she was back at the Emirates Arena for the medal ceremony and chatted with scottishathletics about her Friday night out in Glasgow – and why chasing ‘doubles’ is nothing new.

We also spoke to Andy Young, Laura’s coach, on a race he feels will be talked about for years to come.

‘You don’t get much better than that in the world of athletics,’ said Andy.

And Eilish McColgan, after a seventh place finish in that 3000m race, spoke to us about being unable to resist the temptation of competing at Glasgow 2019 and why that might well be the final indoor race of her career.
