Diane Ramsay interview

VP-Glasgow are renowned at a track and field club in many ways but a recent development is geared to restoring the Glasgow club’s road running section.

Based from Scotstoun, VP-Glasgow now offer organised jogging/running sessions from the stadium each weeknight after training up Jog Leaders via jogscotland qualifications earlier this year.

VP-Glasgow secretary Gordon Innes said: ‘Our road runners group is open to anyone for all four sessions each week – and each evening’s plan is tailored to reflect the running level of those who attend.

‘So whether you’re just looking for some company as you’re training for long distances, or aiming to start out with a 5k goal, everyone is welcome. Our leaders and coaches are all ready to help.  We offer a free month’s trial to try and help people achieve their health and fitness goals.’

In May of this year, the club funded 14 volunteers to attend a Jog Leader course, and introduced four evening run sessions a week Monday to Thursday. Since then the group has gone from strength to strength, as the Evening Times reports.
