17 Scottish Records are approved

Scottish athletes made a huge impact on track and field during the summer season – and we have the Records to prove it!

No fewer than 17 new Scottish marks have now been approved by the scottishathletics Board following hard work by the Records Committee.

Four of these were new Scottish National Records at Senior level as Andy Butchart, Beth Dobbin, Jax Thoirs and Heather Paton re-wrote the best performances of all-time in their events.

In addition to those, Holly McArthur claimed a new Native Record in the heptathlon (best performance by a Scot in Scotland) at Senior level.

And we should note that these performances were for a period up to the end of August 2019 and do not include a couple of new National Records set at the World Champs in Doha by Eilish McColgan and Jake Wightman, which are awaiting ratification.

Many thanks to Arnold Black and the team on the Records Committee who, in the first instance, report back to our Track and Field Commission with recommendations then subject to approval by our Board.
