London Marathon Results

The Scottish Record was broken and precious British medals claimed, too, at the TCS London Marathon.

Weynay Ghebresilasie went sub 2:07 to clock 2:06.59 and set a new mark for Scottish men.

The Shettleston Harriers athlete, who is supported by Joma, was 13th in the Elite Men’s race and took third in the British race to land a UK Championships bronze medal as well as Lindsays Scottish Championship gold.

Eilish McColgan took the British and Scottish gold medals with her run of 2:24.51. That was just outside her Scottish Record last year but one place better as Eilish finished in seventh in the Elite women’s race.

In the Elite Men’s Wheelchair Race, there was a 15th place finish for Sean Frame in 1:37.07. That made Sean the third British athlete in that race.

It really was a remarkable occasion in London with ideal conditions leading to Records and PB performances from elite athletes to the mass race with 59,000 people lined up to start.

Sebastian Sawe headed them all and broke the magical two hour mark for the first time with World Record 1:59.30.

The Kenyan thus repeated his TCS London Marathon win from last year – read more about the Scottish connection to Sebastian via well-known coach, Colin Thomas.
