Host club Shettleston Harriers are putting up a financial incentive for the Lindsays Scottish 10K Champs later this year.

The Babcock 10K hosts our championship event at Glasgow Green on Sunday 10 May.

Lindsays, who sponsor the Cross Country Season, are now backing a series of national road race events for 2026.

And now athletes can chase a special bonus of £200 for the first Scottish male and first Scottish female in the Lindsays 10K Champs.

This is in addition to £200 for the winner of the men’s and women’s races, a further £200 is on offer for a course record which currently stands at 29:06 to Wolverhampton’s Omar Ahmed from last year and Dundee’s Natasha Phillips who ran 32:56 in the same race.

Both times are also Babcock 10K Series records which unlocks a further £200 if broken. Leading athletes could win as much as £800 in around 30 minutes.

Shettleston’s John Mackay has confirmed the race currently has 11 men with personal best times under 30 minutes entered and 10 women who have run under 36 minutes for the distance.

Host club athletes, Claire Stewart and Jamie Burns have both been selected to represent Scotland in the Home Countries International Cross-Country at London’s Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday 7 February.

Shettleston club-mate Brogan Wallace is expected to join her club-mates to contest the Babcock Shettleston race. Brogan took the title in last year’s Babcock Dumbarton 10k.

More than 500 runners have already entered the Babcock 10K Series and the ‘Early Bird’ discount will save you £5.00 if you enter before midnight on 31 January.

There is more than £6000 in cash and Start Fitness vouchers on offer to the first ten male and female finishers, first runners over 40,50 and 60, plus the first local runners and top three teams of three.

Every finisher will receive a specially struck commemorative medal and a different item of Start Fitness running merchandise at each race.  Series entrants will receive a free More Mile technical t-shirt, complete with this year’s Babcock 10K Series design.
