Tokyo: Ten picked for GB and NI team for Worlds

Ten top Scots will compete at the World Champs in Tokyo.

And we are pleased to share a guide to when those athletes will compete so you can keep track of performances in Japan.

Nicole Yeargin in the relays, and Laura Muir and Erin Wallace in the 15000m heats, are the first Scots to be involved this weekend.

And Saturday’s programme will also see the first Scot in a final when Megan Keith races in the Women’s 10,000m (at 1.30pm our time).

Megan was at the 2023 World Champs in Budapest and the Olympics last year but says she won’t seek out Erin and Sarah Tait – making their debuts at this level – because ‘we are all in this together’.

‘I have been in a few championship teams now including the Olympics obviously and it is great fun to be part of this kind of experience,’ said Megan, who set a Native Record in the mile at the Monument Mile Classic.

‘There are familiar faces there in terms of Scots with the GB and NI team for the World Champs .

‘It is a big number of Scot and all of us will want to be really competitive in our events. I am excited to be on the team again.

‘Sarah and Erin are at their first World Champs but I still feel like one of the newest members of that team! Will I show them the ropes? Absolutely not. I am a novice too so we are in the same boat and will all help each other.’
