Naomi and Joe picked for Spain
Scottish athlete Alastair Graves has landed his first GB and NI selection.
The Ochil Hill Runners athlete has been picked for the Long Trail event at the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships.
British teams will head to Spain in September and Scots have already been selected in other disciplines.
Now they are joined by Alastair, who is coached by Lewis Walker, after a third place finish in the trial event – the 14 Peaks Ultra in North Wales.
Seven athletes have been selected with the aim of achieving a top 10 individual finish or a top five team ranking.
The Long Trail race will be 82km with 5700m of ascent and decent. The runners will have to climb La Moleta, descend into the stunning Izas Valley, pass Royo peak, Formigal, and the border of Portalet before crossing into France and running more than 20 kilometres through the French Pyrenees.
Warm congratulations to Alastair, his family, coach and club on the selection for September’s event.
Also in the selection is Lizzie Richardson, who moved to Scotland six months ago. Lizzie now represents Highland Hill Runners.
