GB and NI athletes head for the European U20 Championships in Finland this week,

So it is a good time for us to wish the team all the best with five young Scots having been named in the selection for the event in Tampere between tomorrow and Sunday (7–11 August).

A squad of 59 athletes has been selected in line with the selection policy, with the aim of these Championships being to maximise a top-eight placing as well as providing key experience for 4x100m runners in preparation for senior championships.

There are track selections for the trio of Oliver Patton (Kilbarchan AAC), Oliver MacDonald (Giffnock North AC) and Reiss Marshall (Fife AC).

Falkirk Victoria Harriers athlete Kaya Slater is picked for the individual 100m and the 4x100m Relay while Dean Patterson (VP-Glasgow) is named in the 4x100m Relay squad.

Good Luck to those selected and to their families, coaches and clubs.
