As another busy Track and Field championship summer draws to a close, scottishathletics would like to extend a huge Thank You to the Officials and volunteers who have played such an important role in making the 2026 season such a success.
Here’s our message from our Competitions Team, the Communications Team and indeed everyone within your governing body.
‘From SUPERteams and relays through to Combined Events and National Championship competitions across all age groups, it has been another packed and exciting summer of athletics, with athletes from across Scotland taking to track and field facilities around the country to compete together.
‘While the performances by athletes provide many of the highlights, none of these competitions would be possible without the dedicated team of Officials and volunteers working behind the scenes and around the field of play.
‘Week after week, Officials have given their time, knowledge, and expertise to ensure that our championships are delivered safely, fairly and to the highest possible standard.
‘Their commitment helps to create the environment in which athletes can compete, coaches can support their athletes, and spectators can enjoy watching the action.
‘That contribution comes in many different forms. We are fortunate to have experienced graded Officials who continue to give their time and expertise to our championships, alongside developing Officials gaining valuable experience as they work towards their Level 1 qualification.
‘We are equally grateful to the volunteers who step forward to lend a hand on competition days and help make everything run smoothly.

‘The commitment of our Officials is particularly impressive given the demands of our busy championship calendar.
‘Their knowledge, professionalism and willingness to support athletes across all age groups are a huge asset to scottishathletics, and their contribution throughout the summer has been greatly appreciated.
‘The strength of our competition programme relies on the people who give their time to make it happen, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated Officiating and volunteer community supporting athletics across Scotland.
‘Quite simply, our championships could not happen without them.
‘So, Thank You to everyone who has played their part throughout the 2026 championship season.
‘Your time, expertise and commitment make a huge difference to athletes and to the wider sport, and we hope you can take some time to enjoy a well-earned break before the indoor season gets underway.’
