World beater Alastair sets new 10k Record; Aidan leaps forward

Monday 17th April 2023

Results: Round the Houses 10K

Alastair Walker of Teviotdale Harriers has delivered another stunning Masters performance.

Alastair clocked a World Record for M65 at the World Masters in Poland recently with 34:18 for 10k on the road.

But he took that down to 34:05 (gun time, 34:04 chip) at the Round the Houses 10K event organised by Falkirk Victoria Harriers at Grangemouth on Sunday.

What an incredible performance with Alastair finishing 28th in a field of just over 640 runners. Congratulations!

The Round the Houses race at Grangemouth also took in the East 10K Champs, with a big thank you to Falkirk Victoria Harriers as our host club.

East District podium places were as follows:

Men: 1 Darrell Hastie (Gala H); 2 Martin Mueller (Metro Aberdeen RC); 3 Csoban Balogh (St Andrews Univ)

Women: 1 Jennifer Wetton (Central AC); 2 Melissa Albarran (Edinburgh AC); 3 Fiona Matheson (Falkirk VH)

Master Champions:

Darrell Hastie (Gala H) and Fiona Matheson (Falkirk VH)

Great to see a PB performance in the Triple Jump from Aidan Quinn in the United States.

The University of New Mexico athlete, one of our National Academy graduates, leapt out to 15.85m. That takes him to seventh in the all-time rankings for Scottish men.

Well done to Aidan and coach.

With thanks to Bob Thurnhoffer
