Alessandro Schenini will always have great memories of Grangemouth after a stunning Native Record there last summer at the Senior Scottish Champs.

And the long jumper made a solid start to the outdoor season at the latest National League meeting at the same venue over the weekend.

Alessandro leapt to 7.41m on a day when Krishawn Aiken was also in good form with a 10.58w performance in the 100m sprints. Meghan Porterfield threw 44.03 discus.

U17 athlete Emma Clark clocked 12.00 in the 100m, too, and that time was matched in the same age group by Tehillah Ikechukwu Okonkwo.

Also at U17, there was a fine run at 400m from Josh Mungin at 49.28 and Matilda Brockley 5.57m long jump.

Thanks as always to our Officials and all other volunteers delivering National League events.

The British Unis Champs (BUCS) always offers strong early season competition for Scottish athletes and a number impressed in Manchester.

Among the medals were silvers for Hannah Anderson at 1500m (4:21. 06), Lois Garland at 200m (23.93), Adam Hoole in the Long Jump (7.35m), Dawn Russell in the Javelin (47.30).

Among the medals were bronzes for Peter Bradshaw at 5000m (14:21.45), Jane Davidson in the 100m Hurdles ( 13.93), Ben Heron in the 400m Hurdles (52.70), Adam Hoole in the 110m Hurdles (14.25).

In the Para events, Scottish athletes represented their Unis and performed with distinction:

Adam Donnachie: Seated Shot – 8.91 (PB) – Gold & Championship Record; Seated Discus – 20.86 (PB) – Gold

Cameron Thores: 100m (12.18) Gold; 400m (52.94 PB) Silver

Freya Howgate: Discus (20.81) Gold; Shot  (8.20) Bronze; 100m  (17.30)

As well as the above, there were a number of Scottish all-time list impressions including Scott Hopper’s javelin at 63.70 (fourth all-time U20) and Sara Barbour’s pole vault at 3.84m (tenth all-time).

Well done to all Scottish athletes and coaches who competed at BUCS this year and good luck for up-coming events.
