Volunteer for Commission roles to help us with road and cross country

Wednesday 9th March 2022

Our Commissions structure

Can you help in the development of our sport via a role on one of our key Commissions?

The Road Running and Cross Country Commission would like to hear from anyone who may be keen to take up a role as a representative via our three Districts – East, West and North.

Sub-committees from those three Districts help deliver feedback from clubs and members to the Commission itself. Our Commission Convenors sit on the Board of scottishathletics.

There are currently vacancies for District representatives for East, West and North and the role involves:

*Representing the views of District clubs at meetings of the full RR and CC Commission

*Informing District clubs of the decisions of the Commission and to implement its policies within the District

*Helping lead on organisation of District Championships

*Arranging and selecting representative District teams when they are required

Numbers have been rising significantly in cross country events in recent years, which of course is a big positive for the sport in competition and participation terms.

But that does raise issues around available courses and willing clubs to lead on staging championship events – we see the District roles on the Commission as helping in that regard.
