Three Scots will head to Italy at the end of next week to represent GB and NI at the Euro Cross.

Megan Keith was an automatic selection for British Athletics following her first place finish in the U23 category in the Senior Women’s race at the British Cross Challenge in Liverpool.

And there was further good news today from a Scottish perspective as Alice Goodall and Eloise Walker joined Megan in the U23 Women’s team for the trip to Italy.

A 40-strong British team will compete in the Euro Cross on courses just outside Turin on Sunday 11 December.

We send our warm congratulations to the three Scots picked and their families, coaches and clubs . . .

A team of 40 will represent GB and NI in Turin on Sunday 11 December.

Trial winners Jess Warner-Judd and Emile Cairess lead the Senior teams heading to Italy, while two reigning European gold medallists, Megan Keith and Charles Hicks are also selected to compete.

Megan of course is stepping up after winning the Women’s U20 title in Ireland while Charles defends his Men’s U23 title.

After finishing top of the medal table with seven at the 2021 edition in Dublin, the British cohort will once again look to perform well against the continent’s best cross country athletes.

Team Leader, Chris Jones, said: ‘We have a strong history at the Euro Cross and, following another good autumn/winter season, and a competitive Trial event at Liverpool, we have been able to select a very strong team who will be pushing the best in Europe next month.

‘It is great to see a number of experienced athletes earning their places on the team once again, and likewise, I am pleased that several athletes have achieved their first GB and NI vests.

‘We are looking forward to seeing how the team performs in Italy.’

The GB and NI staff team for the Euro Cross will include our own Mark Pollard.
