Tuesday 25th May 2021

Throws GP at Grangemouth – Saturday 29 May

Throwers will gather this weekend for the first our Throws GP events for the summer season in 2021.

And the venue for that event is now Grangemouth (following an issue at Livingston) and we’ve contacted all entrants with details (including how to claim a refund if required).

Athletes who are competing on Saturday should read the information forwarded to them and lodged on the Events Section page linked above.

Non-athletes who plan to attend to Saturday (coaches, family, chaperones) are required to register in advance and should do so via the link here.

GB and Scotland international high jumper Allan Smith has announced his retirement from the sport.

Allan is a multiple Scottish medallist and won British championships and medals, too.

The Falkirk Victoria Harriers athlete committed more than 10 years to the sport and he had a PB of 2.29m indoors.

At the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in 2018, he was desperately close to the medal after a fine series that saw him clear a best of 2.27m and finish fifth. The bronze and silver medals were at 2.30m.

Allan was coached by Bryan Roy at that time and it was a partnership which covered most of his career.

We offer warm thanks to Allan for a big contribution to high jump in Scotland over the past ten years or so and offer our very best wishes for the future.
