Laura Muir will be on the flight to Japan soon – after being selected for the World Champs.

And the Scot who has won multiple medals in a superb career over more than a dozen years should be pretty well versed in the GB and NI team routine.

We can reveal Laura’s selection is her Number 21 (twenty-one!!) of her career as a Senior athlete representing UK Athletics at a major champs.

That takes in European and World events both indoors and outdoors as well as the Olympics on three occasions (Rio, Tokyo, Paris).

It is a quite stunning record of representation and Laura’s career further includes the World Juniors, the European U23 and two appearances at the Euro Cross Country Champs.

‘This will be my seventh World Champs which is quite a record but, WOW, 21 in total really is quite something.

‘I have made every World Champs since 2013 in Moscow so I am pleased with that consistency.

‘I was going to guess around about 20 prior to this one. That’s not bad . . . it is pretty good.

‘Thanks very much for flagging up the stat.’

*Laura’s seventh selection for a World Champs is a British Record now shared with Dina Asher-Smith and Katrina Johnson-Thompson, both also picked for Tokyo.
