Scottish U20 men proved their class and their strength in depth at the Inter Counties XC.
The Nottingham event marked the finale of the British Cross Challenge series and team medals are always hard-earned.
So there was much to savour in that U20 Men’s race as Scotland West took the golds and Scotland East secured the silvers.
James Alexander, our U20 Men’s champion at Falkirk a couple of weeks ago, took a fine individual bronze medal on the Nottingham podium.
Team members:
West: James Alexander, Alasdair Nugent, Ian Jordan, Jamie Connor. East: Rowan Taylor, Kieran Hardie, Andrew McWilliam, Innes Wright.
To add to that superb team 1-2, there were two other sets of medals for the determined Scottish cohort who had headed south.
Scotland West landed golds in the U17 Men’s race. Daibhidh Kinnaird, another Falkirk winner, was best placed in fifth. Scotland East took bronze in the U15 Boys race, too.
Team members:
West: Daibhidh Kinnaird, Alistair Street, Ben Baillie, Angus Fraser-Moodie. East: Adam Kinghorn, Harry Robinson, Luca Anderson, Jack Foley.
Two other teams were in fourth place finishes – Scotland West in the U17 Women and Scotland West in the U15 Girls.
In the Senior races, there was a strong run for individual fourth place by Angus McMillan.
In the Para XC race, Sam Fernando of Fife AC placed fourth with Callum Ballantyne of Cumbernauld AAC home in seventh place.
Well done to all who made the trip to the Inter-Counties XC and thank you to Team Managers.
