Kilmarnock Harriers enjoy a good reputation as one of our most forward-thinking clubs. And here’s the proof!

Volunteers have been out in force this week at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena track planting leylandii hedging on the first bend of the track in order to – one day – reduce the wind effect on athletes competing.

Thanks for the photo go to Ian Gebbie, who advises us: ‘I would seriously doubt if there’s any benefit for this weekend’s CE and Masters Championship events at Kilmarnock . . .’

Joking aside, it’s great the club are thinking ahead and looking at every angle to improve the venue experience for athletes in the future.

Very belatedly, we are keen to acknowledge Annan and District AC for one of our special awards during 2020.

The 4J Studios Innovation Aware went the way of the club for their considerable, and inventive, efforts and activities during long months of lockdown last year to keep members interested.

We have covered his significantly in the current edition of PB magazine with an article (see above right) by Katy Barden.

The story on the left about Officials takes in Bob and Ann Carter, who have strong club connections with Annan and District AC.
