Brodie breaks 400m Record again; thrower Angela is Ivy League Champ

Sunday 2nd March 2025

Brodie Young has had a stunning indoor season in America – and now he has broken the Scottish Record for Men’s 400m for the third time.

The Airdrie Harriers athlete, who is based in New Mexico, claimed gold in the event at the Mountain West Champs in Albuquerque.

Brodie did so with a run of 45.46 seconds which improved further his Scottish Indoor Record and is also a European U23 Record for Indoor 400m.

In the 200m at the same event, he clocked a 20.80 time which is converted to 20.87 for altitude, and is the second best all-time by a Scot (with only Adam Clayton having run faster). He took bronze in the 200m.

Rebecca Grieve, also at University of new Mexico, took a fine silver medal in the Women’s 400m at the Mountain West Champs. Rebecca ran a PB of 52.58 seconds.

*Angela McAuslan-Kelly is at Princeton and continues to develop well in the States with strong performances.

In her latest event, the Aberdeen AAC athlete threw the weight throw out to 20.21m to win the Ivy League Champs.

Angela becomes only the fourth British athlete to go beyond 20m in this event.

Congratulations.
