Coronation Champions Awards

Our Competitions and Business Administrator, Sophie Allan, has been named a Coronation Champion Volunteer by the Royal Voluntary Service.

The Coronation Champions Awards are an official Coronation project, to celebrate extraordinary volunteers across the country who have been contributing to their communities.

Sophie is a dedicated official, coach, and general volunteer within athletics, in addition to her role on our staff team. She’s active with her club, Pitreavie AAC, and is the highest qualified female starter in Scotland.

She sits on the SSAA and Pitreavie AAC committees, the ATS Young People’s Forum and the Peer group for start team.

She is also, deservedly, no stranger to awards – as a result of her tireless voluntary work, she was last year named Young Official of the Year at the sportscotland Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering (COV) Awards, and in 2021 was Volunteer of the Year at the Scottish Women in Sport Awards.

All at scottishathletics would like to congratulate Sophie on this latest, well-deserved recognition for her commitment and dedication to our sport.

++++

Our Competitions Manager Caitlin Watt has stepped away from the scottishathletics competitions team for a year, to work with Glasgow Life, helping to plan next year’s World Athletics Indoor Championships at the Emirates Arena.

The secondment sees Caitlin working as an events officer, across a variety of areas including workforce, operational planning, governance and administration.

We wish Caitlin well in the role, and we’re sure her in-depth knowledge of organising events at the Emirates Arena will be invaluable.

Contact details for other members of the competitions team remain unchanged
