Vote in Athletics Weekly 2016 Awards

No fewer than seven different Scottish athletes are among those short-listed for awards by respected publication Athletics Weekly.

It is another reflection on a super year in terms of Olympic and Paralympic performances with Scots involved in four of the different categories.

Online voting is in place for these awards and we’d ask the athletics community in Scotland to give support  – if you so wish.

Andy Butchart and Callum Hawkins are each listed twice with the Rio duo named among eight contenders for British Male Athlete of the Year as well as being on another list of eight for the British Breakthrough award for 2016.

In Athletics Weekly’s British Female Athlete of the Year short-list, the strength of Scotland’s women is recognised with nominations for Eilidh Doyle, Lynsey Sharp and Laura Muir.

And in the Para Female Athlete of the Year short-list there are two nominees among the list of eight with Libby Clegg and Jo Butterfield sure to be strong contenders.
