There were three victors from athletics at the Scottish Sports Awards 2023 in Glasgow last night – with 1500m World Champion Josh Kerr taking two awards.
Josh won the overall title as Scottish Sportsperson of the Year after winning the Male Athlete of the Year award, too.
He joined the audience on screen from his training base in America as his dad, John, accepted the trophies on his behalf in Glasgow.
Steve Doig crowned an amazing year as he claimed the Coach of the Year Award and there was marvellous recognition for well-kent Kilmarnock Harriers stalwart, Billy Roberton.
We send our warm congratulations to Josh, Steve and Billy on superb success and for their contributions to an excellent 2023 for the sport in Scotland.
Josh Kerr (Edinburgh AC) – Scottish Sportsperson of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year
Billy Roberton (Kilmarnock Harriers) – Community Hero Award
Steve Doig (Fife AC) – Coach of the Year
Beth Potter was recognised with the Sporting Moment of the Year Award for her World Triathlon Championship win.
Congratulations, too, to Scottish Cycling on success in the Sports Governing Body of the Year award, with scottishathletics on the short-list of three in that category.

Billy suffered a life-changing accident in May which resulted in his leg being amputated.
He was told that sport would be out of the question for the rest of the year, but he was back at the Kilmarnock Harriers track in July. pic.twitter.com/aP9XqZHMU4
