Andy Butchart came up with a superb debut at the 10,000m track distance as he landed a new Scottish Record.
Andy clocked 27:36.77 to finish in 11th place in the Sound Running Ten race in California.
That eclipses a Scottish Record mark set fully 45 years ago by Ian Stewart at 27:43.03 at Crystal Palace back in 1977.
The performance is also a qualifying standard for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Congratulations to Andy, his family, his support team and all at Central AC.
Checking the Records section on scotstats.net, this means Andy now holds the outdoor Scottish Records at 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m and also the indoor mark at 3000m.
*Unfortunately, Luke Caldwell was a DNF in the California race. We wish Luke all the best.
