Scotland hill runners earlier this year
Scottish hill runners are being urged to put themselves forward for guaranteed entry for British Championship races in 2019.
The Fell Running Association, who organise the British championships, are concerned that various races are filling up online very quickly with potential medal contenders missing out – or having to join reserve lists.
To avert this, there is no a plan in place for ‘contenders’ to register in advance and then be placed on a guaranteed entry list.
Applications are invited prior to the end of 2018 and should be supported by evidence of good performances during the current year.
Those in the categories below need not apply as they will be granted automatic inclusion for the British Championships:
*Top 20 open men and top 10 open women from the previous year’s rankings
*Top 5 men and women V40/45
*Top 3 men and women of categories thereafter.
*All U23s
Other athletes with strong cases should please keep an eye on the FRA website where a link should appear for the application form.
