Sean Chalmers and Annabel Simpson at the Inverness Half Marathon – both are now picked for Scotland for road running internationals
Scotland will send strong Senior teams to both the Antrim Coast Half Marathon and the ASICS Home Nations 5km in Cardiff.
The inaugural Home Nations International is taking place on a flat and fast course in Bute Park, Cardiff, this Saturday (August 20).
Our Scotland selections for Cardiff are:
Women: Annabel Simpson, Steph Pennycook (Fife AC), Megan Davies (Sale Harriers), Megan Keith (Inverness Harriers)
Men: Ben MacMillan Central AC), Stuart McCallum (Winchester), Angus McMillan (Trafford), Alasdair Kinloch (Tonbridge).
‘We send our warm congratulations on the selection to these athletes and their families as well as their coaches and clubs,’ said Mark Nixon, National Endurance Manager.
‘The elite race is invitation only, so the small but strong fields should add to the championship feel of the event and give our athletes a quality international experience.’

The Antrim Coast Half Marathon is on Sunday 28 August, and is once again a World Athletics elite label road race.
Our Scotland selections for Antrim are:
Men: Sean Chalmers (Inverness Harriers), Lewis Rodgers (Fife AC), Michael Christoforou and Fraser Stewart (Cambuslang Harriers)
Women: Rebecca Burns (Pitreavie AAC), Claire Bruce and Virginie Barrand (Metro Aberdeen)
This race is very popular amongst elite domestic and international athletes alike. Last year’s race was televised by the BBC and won in times of 1:00:30 for men and 1:03:44 for women.
‘Antrim provides our athletes to race against a high-quality international field not often found in the UK, and the flat course will give the opportunity for fast times,’ added Mark.
‘Again, we say well done to all the athletes on being selected for Scotland in road running and to their families, coaches and clubs.’
Thanks to the Road Running and Cross Country Commission for making these Scotland international opportunities available.
