Scotland Women win Snowdon in 2018

GB international Andy Douglas heads the Scotland selection for the Home International Hill Running champs next month.

Athletes from across the UK will compete in the Snowdon International Race in Wales on Saturday 20 July.

scottishathletics are delighted to select eight athletes to represent Scotland in the Men’s and Women’s races and they will compete against England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

There is a first international vest for John Yells of Lochaber AC.

Here are the Scotland teams:

Men: Ewan Brown (Corstorphine AC); Andy Douglas (Inverclyde); James Espie (Deeside); John Yells (Lochaber AC)

Women: Scout Adkin (Moorfoot); Miranda Grant (HBT); Louise Mercer (Edinburgh AC); Jill Mykura (Carnethy HRC)

For the first time, this year’s event is a counting race in the WMRA World Cup Series with some of the top mountain runners in the world due to compete on July 20.

And it is also the first time the Women’s team race will have four counters, in line with the Men’s race at Snowdon.

Scotland won the Women’s team golds last year at Snowdon thanks to performances from Miranda Grant, Jill Stephen and Steph Provan
