Inverness women’s race medallists all landed Half Marathon A standards in our Road Race GP (photo by Paul Campbell)
The scottishathletics Road Race Grand Prix is up and running after the recent Scottish Half Marathon Champs in Inverness.
And it is good to confirm that no fewer than a dozen athletes in the Highlands delivered performances which merit shares.
The £4000 prize-money in the GP is divided up via shares awarded for those who are inside A and B standard times for each distance.
Four women achieved the A standard (sub 76:00) at Inverness:
Nancy Scott (Edinburgh AC) 73:20; Naomi Lang (Carnethy HRC) 74:39; Brogan Wallace (Shettleston Harriers) 74:57; Kirsty Walker (Edinburgh AC) 75:27.
Rosa Donaldson (Shettleston Harriers) made the B standard with her run of 77:21.
The split was clearer in the men with the top seven finishers outside the A standard of sub 65:00 but inside the B standard (sub 67:00).
Well done to Jamie Crowe (Central AC) 65:19; Sean Chalmers (Aberdeen AAC) 65:20; Ryan Thomson (Cambuslang Harriers) 65:22; Taha Ghafari (Shettleston Harriers) 65:39; Eddie Narbett (Carnethy HRC) 65:44; Lewis Rodgers (Fife AC) 65:47; Michael Ferguson (Aberdeen AAC) 65:54.
Good to see a number of clubs already represented in the Road Race GP via these performances.
The next opportunity to land shares is at the Scottish 10-Mile Champs coming up this weekend at the Tom Scott Road Races at Strathclyde Park, Motherwell.
