Scottish marathon running looks to be on the up – and 11 athletes landed shares for their performances at the TCS London Marathon.
Seven men and four women were all inside the A and B standards set as part of our Scottish Road Race Grand Prix.
London hosted the Scottish Champs and the next leg of the five-event series is coming up soon – with the Scottish 5k Champs at Silverknowes in Edinburgh on Friday 16 May.
There were three A standards in the Women’s division of the Grand Prix, led by British champion Eilish McColgan.
The mark was sub 2:44:00 and that was achieved by Elish at 2:24:25; Katrina Ballantyne at 2:38:44 and Sarah Potter at 2:42:18. Brogan Wallace was inside the B standard with her run of 2:44:32 (sub 2:48:00).
British bronze medallist Weynay Ghebresilasie earned an A standard with his run of 2:11.21 well inside the 2:20:00 being asked.
The men’s B standard was sub 1:24:00 and half a dozen athletes achieved that with their London performances:
Eddie Narbett 2:21:20; Dougie Selman 2:21:48; Max Milarvie 2:22:57; Fred Davies 2:23:21; Lewis Rodgers 2:23:21; Sam O’Neill 2:23:28.
