Young Scotland athletes did the international vests proud at U17 level at Renfrew

And there were some strong runs for Scots in the two younger age groups, too, with British Cross Challenge medals earned in the U15 and U13 age groups.

Scotland won both Celtic Nations U17 races.

The Women set the tone with the trio of Zara Redmond (one), Cerys Wright (three) and Abbie Stewart (five) thus tallying just nine points.

That saw off the challlenges of an Ireland U17 team and and Ireland development team.

Our U17 Men fared similarly well with Calum Dick (one), Ray Taylor (three) and James Alexander (four) thus tallying only eight points.

That was enough to secure well-deserved golds in a Celtic race that featured teams from Ireland and an Ireland development team.

In the Cross Challenge race the individual medals at U17 saw a win for Jamie Connor of Giffnock North. And Jamie led home a Giffnock 1-2-3 there for both the U17 Cross Challenge and Inter-Districts with Calum Dick and Alasdair Nugent joining him on the podium,

Zara Redmond was our winner in the U17 Women’s race in both Cross Challenge and Inter-District. Zara was joined on the Challenge podium by East duo Elsa McGregor and Cerys Wright. Zara also won U17 Celtic Nations gold.

In the Boys’ race, Angus Wilkinson (East Kilbride) took the win across both the British Cross Challenge and Inter-District, with Alistair Street (Kilbarchan) second in both.

Will Birchall (Exeter Harriers) took third in the British Cross Challenge, with Howie Allison (Lasswade) third in the Inter-District race.

U13

The U13 Girls race was won by Ellie Birchall (Exeter Harriers), giving her the British Cross Challenge victory, with Imogen Turner (Team East Lothian) second and Lucia Connell (Strathearn Harriers) third.

In the Inter-District race, that made Imogen the winner with Lucia in silver and Emily Taylor (Aberdeen) in third – a 1,2,3 for East District athletes.

The U13 Boys race – and thus the British Cross Challenge – was won by Adam Paget (Rushcliffe AC), with Rory Beattie (Harmeny AC) second and Kian Dick (Giffnock North) third.

That made Rory the winner of the Inter-District competition, with Kian second, and third place going to Harry Robinson (Dundee Hawkhill).
